Taking the Worry Out of Homeschooling
At EJ Education, we believe providing an exceptional home-based education shouldn't come with stress. Co-founded by Justin and Liz—both certified Washington State teachers holding Master’s Degrees in Education and advanced endorsements—our program ensures your student receives a comprehensive, standards-based curriculum. We design our materials to seamlessly meet and exceed Washington's annual requirement of 1,000+ instructional hours (or 180 days).
Program Update: To maintain our high standards of individualized attention, EJ Education is currently operating with a reduced enrollment. While Justin has returned to the public school system, Liz is leading the homeschool program independently, bringing her extensive classroom and administrative expertise directly to your family.
Meeting Washington State Requirements with Confidence
Navigating state homeschool laws can feel overwhelming. In Washington, children between the ages of 8 and 18 must attend school, and families opting for home-based instruction must file an annual Declaration of Intent with their local school district by September 15th.
Furthermore, state law requires home-based instruction to be supervised by a Washington State certified educator (pursuant to chapter 28A.410 RCW). That is exactly where we come in. We provide the certified oversight and professional expertise you need to homeschool with total peace of mind.
In Washington, families must file a Declaration of Intent on your child’s eighth birthday, or the date you withdraw them from public school. From there on out, each year your family will file a declaration of intent before September 15th.

*As tax payers in a community, homeschooled children are able to receive support services and choose educational programs offered through their local school districts. This includes but is not limited to sports, music, clubs, Running Start, etc..
Homeschooled children are required to be in school for 180 days a year, or an average of 1,000 hours.
Keeping records is required by law, even though they don't have to be submitted annually. At EJ Education, we track days and grades for all our families.
In Washington state, families are required to have their child annually assessed (after age 8). The SAT 10 is an assessment that we utilize in the Spring for grades 3 and up. This assessment offers a wealth of information about a child's progress. More information about the SAT-1o: https://www.setontesting.com/product/stanford-10-online/
